 Preparation

  • Prepare comfortable easy-to-dry clothes. Even if tour boat is covered with roof, it’s a good idea to bring extra sheets of cloth for sunshade.
  • Wear swimsuit inside your clothes or wear clothes that you feel most comfortable and dexterous whilst swimming. They shall dry easily for use in multiple diving trips. Long-sleeve top is better.
  • Prepare sunscreen with SPF 50 at least because you will be skin diving for long. Especially those who are easily sun-burned, bring enough sunscreen. (Skip eye area while applying sunscreen because it stings when mixed with seawater and there gone all the fun. Once your front is thoroughly covered, don’t forget your back especially neck, ears, arms and legs. These parts will be most exposed to the sun. For skin diving, your body will be directly under the sun about all the time.)
  • A slipper, with or without lace.
  • Hat and sunglasses.
  • Bring your own snorkeling set, which fits your face and suits you the most. However, if you don’t already have one, Tour Buddy has prepared some selection of standard adjustable sets for you.
  • Pillow and sleeping bag are also available at the park.
  • Waterproof bag to protect your camera and other valuables.
  • Plastic bag to carry wet clothes.
  • A rope for hanging wet clothes, 3-4 meters long.
  • Suitcase: backpack type is recommended. It’s handier getting on and of the boat.
  • You may want to keep your valuables in the park locker. Locker fee is 30 baht per 1 locking.
  • People who love to read may bring some books along for boat riding to the island.
  • Flashlight for nighttime walk or restroom. After 22.00, electricity is shut down.
  • If you dislike hot weather, talcum powder such as Snake brand could help a lot. A small fan or a battery fan would be great. At early night it’s rather hot on the island. Temperature will subside at late night.
  • Folding mattress to lie down at night. Get relaxed with cold comforting sea breeze before going to sleep.
  • Bring your own favorite snacks. Actual they sell snacks on the island too, but at higher price. For example, every brand of canned brew costs 50 baht/can so it’s cheaper to bring your own drinks. They have ice there but don’t count on it. Sometimes ice shortage happens and all you can do it waiting for the boat. On-the-rock drink with sliced lime and light sprinkle of salt is pleasurable and more convenient. Oh! You can buy souvenir shirts with variety of prints and designs.
  • Don’t forget camera with extra battery supplies. You can charge batteries on the island under your own attendance (available only after 6 p.m. when power generator starts working). Feel free to ask any staff regarding where to charge your batteries.
  • Mobile signal is available for GSM network only. Other networks won’t work. However, you can make calls on satellite phone with a pin-phone card that you buy on the island.
  • Soccer fan should not worry about missing your favorite match. They have UBC Cable TV at the cafeteria where you and your friends can blissfully watch soccer matches and have drinks at the same time.
  • Prepare medicine for personal illness. Be healthy and strong. Don’t get sick and let’s have fun.

Finally, the most important thing is a heart that loves and appreciates nature. Surin Islands are far away from mainland. Tourists can only be supported with a definite level of amenities. The islands will remain naturally beautiful if we follow rules of the sea.
